Our duct tape shoes tutorial was an instant hit and until up to this day, it still receives tons of views and comments. So my daughter and I decided to come up with another footwear tutorial; this time, we came up with flip flops just in time for summer. For the sole, we used foam crafts with fun and colorful prints which we found at Michaels. For the strap, we used pretty and decorated trims which we found at Hobby Lobby.
The flip flops that AG doll Jess has (GOTY 2006) was our inspiration for this tutorial and it was patterned after it. They turned out really cute and we had so much fun making them. As you can see, we made a ton of them because we got sort of addicted. Here are some photos to inspire you in making them yourselves.
As you can see in the photos, these 3 lovely dolls can stand with these flip flops on. Otherwise, they would end up in the pool (yikes!).

It’s best to use trims that are slim enough for the doll’s foot. The front strap is intended to go in between the big toe and toe after it, just like how people wear it.

Very cute! PLEASE get some hot glue finger caps next time you're at Hobby Lobby. They are made by Plaid/Mod Podge. They are silicone and are heat resistant up to 600 degrees. You can place glue very precisely and not burn your fingers.

how to get ponytail holders or rubber bsnd to stick. My trim seems to pull off when working or playing with doll. What do yoou use to make stick, I have trie glue gun, instan glue and gorilla glue. Any instruction or tutorials?

I love your patterns. I'm about to be a great grandma but have a granddaughter who is 7 and very much into these dolls. She loves to dress her doll and herself in the same outfit. Do you know of anywhere I can get patterns to match?
My retirement budget doesn't allow for the cost of those outfits...priced one at $300 for the doll and the granddaughter!

Better late than never, but if you are looking for patterns that are reasonably priced, web search 'pixie faire patterns' that you can purchase, download and print off. They carry a good variety for the different brand names of dolls. (The majority are in the price range of $3.99 to $4.99 American $$$.) **** Also shall add; be sure you file their email to you that you can log on to at any time so you can print them off at will. ****

To the grandma asking about doll/girl matching outfits... The pattern companies were slow going about it but have finally started producing patterns for some look-alike outfits. Check your local fabric store for Simplicity, McCalls, etc. to see what they have. Also - if you've sewn garments in the past, you may be able to "copy" from a little girls' pattern to a mini-version by altering the style a little - keeping the fabric & trims the same can produce a pretty nice "match" without being fussy about every little detail being the same. Hope that helps! :)
